I belong to a growing group of representational painters who are moved by the poetry of painting. Painting that may be without narrative or concept but not empty of importance or sublimity. Beauty found the brushstrokes of form, light, and space through the human hand require no deeper intent or lofty purpose to justify its integrity. Like a musician with sounds or a poet with syllables, painters can create moving, sublime works that rely on visual elements alone, independent of concept. Oftentimes times the beauty of these representations will inspire meaning and connection for the viewer, but it is not inherent in the work itself. - Natalie Pivony
